Come Mika, anche Simona Atzori non ha bisogno sicuramente di essere presentata da me. Immagino la ricorderai per la sua esibizione sul palco di Sanremo qualche anno fa o per essere stata la protagonista della cerimonia di apertura delle Paraolimpiadi nel 2006.

Simona fa parte di quella categorie di persone eccezionali come Walter Zanardi o Bebe Vio che realizzano imprese straordinarie, che non si fanno abbattere dalle difficoltà e che noi possiamo solo ammirare.
Simona è una persona esuberante: ballerina, pittrice, scrittrice e life-coach. Si presenta così:”Sono Simona, ho i capelli lunghi e le mani sotto” I suoi piedi sono le sue mani e lei ha imparato fin da piccolissima ad usarli in alternativa a queste. Io non riesco neppure ad immaginarlo, figuriamoci a farlo.
Ma non è tanto del suo essere straordinario che voglio parlarti piuttosto del perché, nonostante sia senza braccia, sia una persona serena, vivace, attiva ed equilibrata.
Ne parla lei stessa: i suoi genitori, un padre e una madre che hanno accolto questa bambina che già dal primo vagito era chiaro che avrebbe avuto una vita ben più complicata degli altri.
Una bambina sveglia, intelligente ma senza braccia. Cosa avranno pensato? Cosa avrei pensato io? Non lo so. Loro invece si sono concentrati sulle qualità e non sulle mancanze.
L’hanno fatta crescere nella certezza che avrebbe potuto fare tutto quello che voleva (a dispetto di quello che potevano dire gli altri) esattamente come i normodotati, anzi meglio. Che, se non poteva fare come gli altri, avrebbe dovuto trovare una strada alternativa, ma la cosa più importante è che vivesse con serenità la sua vita: “… mi hanno aiutata a capire quali erano i miei desideri e a come realizzarli, facendomi bastare quello che avevo…”
Ecco io spero di avere qualcosa della mamma di Simona per valorizzare le qualità dei miei figli e non le loro mancanze: ci sono diversi modi per fare le stesse cose. Devo tenerlo a mente.
